Chances are, if you have to ask this question, you either lack experience, or motivation, which means trying it on your own is a recipe for failure. You could injure yourself, workout inconsistently (which means no results), and/or spend a lot of your time, energy, and effort trying to achieve a goal without the specific tools you need to do so. With a personal trainer, who knows what they're doing (very important), you can maximize your time spent in the gym and eliminate the risk you're taking if you try it on your own. Start by doing one session, then if you like it schedule more and develop consistency, you will be held accountable by the money you spent and the trainer. Before you know it you'll be excited to get your workout in and you'll have to set new goals from crushing the original goals.
I prefer to have my clients come to me so I can book as many appointments and help as many clients as I can, but within a reasonable distance (greater Houston area), yes I can! Traveling fees are applied in most cases, but if there is a large group or multiple clients at the same location back to back, traveling fees are typically waived. If you are located outside of the greater Houston area, I do offer Virtual Training and/or written workout programs for those who would still like to train with me, despite their location.
